New houses near the flying field

An application has been submitted to the South Down National Park Authority (SDNPA) to build another 24 houses on the old HMS Mercury site. These would be on the north side of Droxford Road alongside the 6 luxury houses already there, edging closer to our flying field.
The plans are for 3 three bedroom, 9 four bedroom, and 12 five bedroom houses to be built. The previous application was for 14 houses but it seems the developers now want to build more, lower cost homes due to the problems selling the original 6 very expensive homes.
The plans were drawn up following discussions between the developer and the SDNPA Design Review Panel, who believe that the scheme represents a “substantial leap forward from a landscape point of view”.  “The panel opened by saying there is an amazing opportunity here at this site, alongside the South Downs Way, to make something that truly represents the purposes of the national park”.  Really?!

You may feel you wish to object to the scheme with comments along the lines of how inappropriate that site would be for an estate of family houses, and how it would represent a wholly undesirable urbanisation of the area, not compatible with the needs of a national park.
