Club Update – 31 October 2010

Much to my dismay, people seem to enjoy my blog, so from now on I will attempt   to do a monthly addition.
If you have anything of interest you would like included please email me.
Sunday the 26/09/10 dawned bright and windy again, at 09.15 the phone rang, it was our Hon chairman enquiring if I was going flying, because being one of the electric brigade he was concerned about the windy conditions, he knew Don was not playing today, so I was already second best to test fly his repaired Demon. We both arrived at the field and went up to the patch, Andy was already there and before you could say electric flyers don’t like the wind, Andy was doing the test flight, and I really believed Mick liked me.
The meeting on Thursday went well, Mick took the decision to draw the raffle directly the meeting was over, and this would   continue for the rest of the year, I am sure you will all join me in congratulating our chairman for standing up and making all the big decisions, regardless of the ramifications.
Sunday 3/10/10,
Rain and wind again, oh well the loft really did need sorting out
Sunday 10/10/10
Strange day today, clear blue sky, very warm for October but that bl**dy wind will not go away. Andy Smith made the successful move from the dark side, when his new mustang, powered by an OS61, came to a halt after a real greaser he could not contain his excitement, he punched the air with both fists and was heard to shout YEEEEEESSSS, congratulations Andy, we all know real men fly IC.
According to the telly, today, 10/10/10 is supposed to be lucky, try telling that to Woody, his bad luck has returned again, the smile was wide after the test flight of the new model, but this was soon gone after the second flight resulted in a terminal crash. Woody’s disappointment was obvious, but Don was at hand, after asking how much the smashed plane and avionics cost, doing a bit of mental mathematics, he happily reported to Woody that each flight cost you around £100.00, Don please don’t ever volunteer to be a   Samaritan!!. Keep the faith Woody, things can only get better.
For some things in life speed is a good, a sprint in athletics, Formula 1 ETC, but to complete a club meeting in 7 minutes is not great, especially when five of those were the minutes from the last meeting, fortunately John Evans just happened to have a quiz in his pocket, and as usual it was very entertaining, but we cant keep relying on John, what we need is ideas, so come on guys put your thinking caps on and see what you can come up with.
Sunday 17/10/10, warm, light winds, the three musketeers are together again, more members than we have had for some time, no major crashes, things just don’t get better than this, only one slight disappointment Andy Smith has been drawn back to the dark side, so come on all IC flyers we need to pull together to stop him falling forever…… feel the force Andy.
Sunday 24/10\10 Panic over, Andy Smith has seen the error of his ways since last week. The bullocks are in the field, and as usual they use the patch as a toilet, but this had a very positive effect on my mate Ron, after you had all gone home he managed 5 complete flights rudder on take off perfect, not one pile of poo disturbed, and a set of 5 consistent landings, consistently poor but consistent all the same, keep it up Ron it wont be long before that Spit can come out of the box.
Unfortunately every Sunday brings the bad as well as the good, Mick and Franks luck deserted them again, a mid air between the big Twin and Demon left them stunned, wow the magnets in these big motors must be strong, Mick’s batteries were found on the road, knocked out of shape, but don’t worry Don was at hand to bend them back straight, maybe he thought they would make good hand warmers, when he commented “I thought these catch fire if you damage them.” Last but not least Keith was determined not to repeat his accident of a couple of weeks ago and crashed two fields past the trees, missed them by a country mile.
That’s it for this month, but don’t forget, rehearsals for the Full Monty start next thursday at Midhurst village hall 2.00 AM thongs at the ready.
All the best Stu Margate
