COMPETITIONS COMING UP THIS YEAR AT PAM
CHUCK GLIDER COMPETITION 2025
The date 0f the 2025 is yet to be announced but will probably be sometime in July.
The 2024 Chuck Glider class was won by Andy Palmer with Mark Agate a close second.
The 2024 Catapult class was won by Alan Wood who beat Tony Neil into second place.
It’s always a good fun evening so get building or buying something suitable with which to take part next year. As usual there will be two classes, the normal strong arm throw gliders, and limp wristed catapult launched gliders!
FUN FLY COMPETITION 2025
After a reasonable success with he competition with a few club members getting involved last year we will be carrying out the competition again this year. Hopefully some of you will give it a go this year. Remember its just for fun. So the idea of this is a bit of club fun with each other and individually. Its a great opportunity to improve those skills and tighten of your control! So what have you got to lose. This will run throughout the year until a close date is given, and there will be two categories for the A + B holders as we want to keep it as fair as possible! So the skills we are looking at are all fun fly skills and here they are:
- Most loops in 1 minute.
- Most touch and goes in 90 seconds.
- Spot landings, spot to be in centre of patch, and pilots are to stand by the wind sock. Motor to be cut as soon as wheels hit the ground, natural inertia is ok. Measurement is closest point of the aircraft to the centre of the spot (closest wins of course).
- Most Spins from a 20 second climb.
- Climb and glide from a 20 second climb (from wheels leaving the ground at take off) NO GLIDERS.
- Shortest timed flight from take off (wheels rolling), including a circuit and landing (wheels stopping) Crashes don’t count!
- Timed flight. From take off (wheels rolling, no hand launches allowed) fly and land (wheels stopping) in exactly 60 seconds. Score 1 point for every second under or over 60 seconds. Lowest score wins. No timers allowed, pilot must count the time himself.
The tasks can be attempted at any time and with any model (apart from the climb and glide), as long as you have a timer and a judge (which can be anyone) with you to witness the attempt. You can have as many attempts as you want through out the year. Email your results to Keith Evans who will keep the records. Points win prizes and trophies will be given at the end of the year to members who achieve the best results in the fun fly disciplines within the A cert and B cert categories. HAPPY FLYING
