Club Update – Aug 2011

The first Sunday of this months report was actually the last sunday of July, maybe Mick thought, as the June July report was already posted, his latest attempt at pyromania would be overlooked in my blog, sorry to disappoint. There is a bit of a theme running with Micks models, build it well, get someone to test fly, then watch it burn, I think the Yak was the fourth model to undergo the baptism of fire, So for a bit of fun, I conducted a Hello magazine type interview.

The observant amongst you will have noticed that I haven’t included all the answers, a little tip there is a theme, so to prove someone is reading this stuff, I will give away one free membership raffle ticket to those who email me the correct answers before the end of September. Something strange happened at this months quiz, something that has never happened before, looking around the room there wasn’t one face that didn’t have a look of disbelief, for the first time in living memory there was a winning team, but most important of all, I was part of that winning team.
It was nice to see Mrs P at the patch this month, no, not Theo’s wife, this was the original Mrs P, apparently she had come along to see what Andy had been spending all her hard earned money on, I did comment that it was great to see how the donations to help the aged were bringing so much pleasure.
According to Maverick, the hair on the palms of my hands will disappear, if I stop flying electric models and return to the real thing, unfortunately I seem to be getting quite a lot of pleasure from flying a packing case with a motor, does anyone know a good palm barber!!
Mick seems to be going for a new record, we didn’t even get to the end of the month and he’s been at it again, smokin!!!
Mick Will be giving his second demo of the year on Thursday, the first was vacuum forming, the second will be foam cutting, both require using high resistances, involve making a bit of smoke, heating up wire, this man is so consistent it’s scary
Finally, I was asking the psychiatrist at the local psychiatric hospital the other day, I asked , how do you decide if someone needs to spend some time with you, “He said we ask one simple question, if you had a bath full of water, a tea spoon, an egg cup and a bucket, how would you empty the bath?” I replied that most sane people would use the bucket!, his reply to this, was, “No, most sane people would pull the plug out, where would you like your bed?
